Safety Advisor

An opportunity has arisen to join the Heathrow Express Operations Team as a Safety Advisor

Accountabilities

  • To enter accurately all Heathrow Rail accidents and incident data into the railway accident & incident database (Safety Management Input System (SMIS)), in a timely manner and to the required quality.
  • Produce accident reports in a timely manner and to the required Heathrow Rail quality and format, for support staff, key stakeholders and leaders within the business to review and implement actions (as necessary).
  • Participates in the HSSE RG meetings, Senior Management Team Safety Meetings and Operational Safety Group meetings.
  • Compile HSSE Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data and produce the monthly HSSE report to the required quality and timescales for review at the HSSE RG and Board Safety meetings.
  • Manage and maintain the Company Incident and Accident Databases. * Maintain the external SMIS including recommendations and normalisation data
  • Report RIDDOR events in the appropriate Heathrow Rail quality and format.
  • Provide information to monthly SRG and Board meetings.

  • First point of contact for all external companies regarding safety documentation that needs to be passed on to or received from other agencies, such as; Network Rail, Rail Safety and Standards Board, RAIB, HSE, HMRI etc.
  • Reviews SMIS to identify key emerging trends and delivers safety briefs across the business.
  • Liaises with Competency Manager and Trainer to inform updates to the CMS and training and assessment delivery.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience and understanding of RIDDOR and its implementation.
  • NEBOSH qualified.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Word for Windows, Email, PowerPoint, Lotus Organiser, and Excel.
  • Due to the extensive liaison with internal and external stakeholders and agencies, the post holder shall have good interpersonal and communication skills. This needs to be supplemented with good report writing and presentation of data skills

 

 

Framework and boundaries

  • The key aspect of the role is to support key stakeholders i.e. senior leadership, Engineering Department, and external agencies by providing safety documentation, safety data, and safety reports as required, for all of rail. * This is a safety critical role, as safety data and reports need to be produced and disseminated, with appropriate actions taken to maintain and improve safety across Heathrow Rail operations
